FAQ What is your style of photography? My style is relaxed and candid, it's all about catching the fun, emotion, and atmosphere of your day, so that someone viewing your images feels like they were actually there. My goal is to catch every moment, yet be invisible at doing it. Yes I also take the standard formals which are expected, but they can also have a fun element to them if you wish. How long will you be at our wedding for ? Really, this is up to you. I normally attend the bride or groom's getting ready location, depending on distance of course, and I'm then there right through the "real" cutting of the cake, and even the first dance. Even after that I can still be seen on the dance floor taking images well into the evening. My "Standard Package" generally covers from 10am until 8pm, but these times are not set in stone. If there are still worthwhile shots to be taken, then I have no problems staying later, or even starting earlier, just ask me if you're not sure. Do you cover smaller mid-week weddings? Yes, I do, just call me with your specific requirements, and I'm sure I can tailor a package to whatever your needs are. Is there a limit to the number of pictures that you will take? No, it is unlimited. I take as many images as I can on the day. After that I spend the next 4-5 weeks processing your final images. This is what finally results in your final, master images, but again there is no limit. Getting 250 or more final images is quite common, and you get them all to keep on your set of CDs. Do you offer black and white wedding photographs, or the fancy ones that are part colour part black and white? All of my images are taken in full colour. A selection are then converted into a range of black and white, "sepia" toned shots, and finally some selective colour shots. This will all be explained at our initial meeting, and in fact you can specify what you're preference is. Do we have to choose from all the shots taken on the day and then only choose a certain amount of them to keep? No, you are presented with your set of final CDs, and all of the final master images are on them. Will you take photographs during the service? I can only take photographs if your Priest, Minster or Registrar allows me. It's very rarely an issue, but ask them just to be on the safe side. I do however have to follow their rules. How long do you need to take our Photos? My aim is to capture your whole day as it unfolds. The "Formal" shots are generally no less than one hour, but again this is really up to you, after all, it's your day. The more time, that I have to take them, the better your final images will be, and the more images you will have to choose from. How long will it be before we get our photos? My goal is to have your final CD set of images ready for you in no more than five weeks from the wedding. In most cases it's sooner than this. As far as albums go, I can start designing your album as soon as I have your favourite shots list, but I would always advise that you take at least two months to choose your final list of favourite shots. What other wedding photography products do you offer? I offer a huge range of albums, professional prints, canvas prints for your wall, and just about anything else you can think of. Just ask if you're looking for something special, or that little bit different. Do you provide parents albums & reprints? Yes. I have a large selection that we can discuss. There are albums for every taste, including parent albums, coffee table albums, pocket books, even calendars ! How long does it take to get the album back? Once we get the go ahead to print, you will generally have your wedding album within 2 weeks, depending on what manufacturer is making your album. Do we design our album? All you have to do is choose your favourite images, I will then design your album and email or post the proof album to you. You can then alter the layout as you like. I will only send it off for final printing after you give me your final approval. Are there any hidden costs in your packages? There are no hidden extras. You build the service, and the service that you require, is all you pay for.
Your prices are very competitive ... what's the catch ? What can I say?, there is no catch, I just like giving good service for what I feel is a fair price. That way you are more than likely to recommend me to friends and family. Can I view some of your previous wedding photography work? Sure, there are shots on this website under Gallery, but I will also show you some more samples when we first meet. How do I book you for my wedding ? Easy, call me to discuss your requirements, or if you see exactly what you're after, then you can either pay online, via the link which is in the "packages" section right at the bottom, or you can post me a cheque made payable to "James Solly Photography". To secure your date I require a deposit of £250, with the rest payable no later than one month before your big day. Do you charge for travel? All of my travel is included with your package so long as the destination is within 2 hours of Glasgow. If your destination is further than that, it's certainly not the end of the world, just ask for a quote. Do you do pre-wedding sessions, or engagement-shoots? Yes!, these are great fun, and I highly recommend them. E-Shoots can be arranged very easily upon request. Currently it is fantastic value at only £150 Have you been to our venue ? I have been to a lot of venues covering Scotland over the years, but don't panic. if it's a new venue to me, I will actually go and check it out prior to the big day, just so I know all the good spots to get the best images, and also to speak with their wedding coordinator to make sure that we all understand what the plan is on your day. How much is the deposit? A no-refundable booking fee of £250 is required. This will secure your wedding date & will be deducted from your final balance, which is due 4 weeks before your big day!
